POS Overview
QuickBooks Point of Sale (POS) is a solution for retailers who have up to 10 stores, and up to 10 registers per store. You can choose from Basic, Pro or Pro Multi-store. The integrated hardware bundle comprises a scanner, receipt printer, credit card swipe, and cash drawer. Intuit also provides a merchant gateway over the Internet for high speed and integrated credit card transactions. Tight integration with QuickBooks eliminates retyping. The package comprises of four parts: POS Software, POS Hardware bundle, QuickBooks, and QuickBooks Merchant Services. If any of these is missing, it will not work the way it is supposed to. Buying our services is optional.
POS Software
Version 7.0 sets the new standard in POS user interfaces. If you have a single store, you need either a Basic or Pro. If you have more than one store or more than one location (such as a warehouse to receive into), you need the Pro Multi-store. You need the same version on each machine.

This is comprised of these 4 critical components:

Optional Hardware
Optionally, you can have a Pole Display to show transactions and display sales messages. The PIN reader enables you to accept debit cards. For your Back Office, you might need a Tag printer and additional scanner. The Inventory scanner is a mobile, hand-held device that scans inventory tags and, once docked in the cradle, updates the quantities in POS; provides great anti-shrinkage control.
QuickBooks
You will need QuickBooks Financial Software to be installed on the same computer as the first POS in your store. It is the software solution used by more than 86% of all small businesses nationwide. QB POS integrates completely with QuickBooks so you do not have to re-enter Vendor bills to make payment - POS updates Financials at the time you close the store. You can also track profitability since your data is current.
QuickBooks Merchant Services
The credit card reader is integrated with POS, and can work only with QuickBooks Merchant Services (IMS) using the high-speed Internet gateway. Thus, if you already have a credit card machine with a modem and a dedicated telephone line, you must be entering the transaction amount into the terminal.
You will need to switch to IMS for the following reasons:
- Eliminate double data entry, plus get automatic Bank Reconciliation.
- Save money: It is our GUARANTEE that IMS will meet or beat what you pay your existing credit card merchant services - all you need to do is fax 3 past statements to IMS. They will also waive their $50.00 setup fee.
- IMS is an integral part of the above package, and is a requirement for you to get our discounted prices.
*Condition: Only if you buy POS software, POS Hardware Bundle and QuickBooks Merchant Services together.
Computer
You also need a computer and display (flat screen or touch screen) - we recommend you buy a new Dell or HP PC [Pentium 4, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Disk] since they cost less than $500. Touch-screen: not necessary, but if you'd like one, POS won't mind. In addition, we would be happy to provide 1 hour of free consultation and training (a non-trivial proposition to be trained 1-on-1 by a member of the Intuit Speakers Bureau!).
Services: If you would like our services listed above to help you set up QuickBooks, integrate with POS, convert your inventory, and create custom videos, we will be happy to collaborate: we will train you to do whatever you or your team would like to, while we take care of the rest. You can purchase our 10 hour Pre-paid Remote Support Plan for POS for $1,950.00. You can use this time for any implementation, integration, training or complex support issue which will be done remotely using the Web and telephone; we charge by the minute, and the plan is valid for 2 years.
Lease Financing
